Communities and Neighborhoods in Salt Lake City, UT

With its wide city-center streets, the busy coming-and-going of the TRAX light rail system and the constant bustle of new construction, Salt Lake City has an atmosphere of expansion and growth. Situated at the base of the magnificent Wasatch Mountains, the city is booming economically and evolving at a rapid rate. While most business travelers limit their activities to the city center, many tourists come for the outstanding outdoor recreation found throughout the Salt Lake Basin. In winter, skiing is the main reason for a visit to this vast area, but when the snow melts, it becomes Prime Mountain biking and hiking country. Salt Lake City offers a variety of activities no matter what the season, so a visit here any time of year is recommended.

Here are a couple of suburbs in the Saltlake area:

West Jordan
A rapidly growing new home suburb of Salt Lake County, West Jordan (population 92,000) is Utah's sixth largest city. Its proximity to major transportation routes provides easy access to the Salt Lake International Airport, world-class destination resorts, universities and colleges, and numerous employment opportunities along the Wasatch front. The Jordan School District is the largest of Utah's 40 school Districts, comprising 87 schools: 55 elementary schools (29 of which are year-round), 17 middle schools, ten high schools, one alternative high school, two applied technology centers, and three special schools.

Draper
Surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, Draper (population 35,000) is conveniently located between Salt Lake City and Provo, and is located near an assortment of recreational activities, including world-class skiing, golf, hiking trails, horse back riding, and hang gliding. (Draper is home to the largest hang gliding school in the country). Draper is close to two major universities, NBA Jazz Basketball, the Salt Lake City International Airport, and a variety of other entertainment and cultural venues, including the Utah Symphony and Ballet West.
