Workforce Services

Having a job is a basic requirement for subsistence. Without a job, you can't afford the necessities of life like food or shelter or water, and you definitely can't afford extras like new lead castings for your car or tickets to the movies. Utah is a state that does fairly well stacked up against the national averages for income, however that doesn't mean everyone who moves to Salt Lake City will find a job easily. Unemployment there is 7.3%, higher than the state average. If you're finding that you're having trouble making ends meet or finding a job, you can turn to Utah's Department of Workforce Services. Here are some of the services they can provide.

Finding a Job

The Department of Workforce Services has many resources for job seekers. They have direct links to the websites of employers who may be hiring, and they also have a job board of listings which have been posted by local employers. There are special tools for veterans who have returned from active service only to find that they're not sure where in the civilian workforce their experience with check valves would be useful. There's also special help to be had for refugees who have arrived in Utah and need the means to support themselves.

Retraining

There are some jobs that are being phased out entirely while others, like manufacturing Samuel strapping heads, are being outsourced overseas. When this happens employees are left with skills that are no longer needed by employees. The Utah Department of Workforce services helps these people by giving them access to workshops and retraining programs that can help them fit into the new employment paradigm. Even if it's been a while since you did a job interview and you're looking for interview tips or help writing your resume or cover letter, Workforce Services can help.

Financial Assistance

Sometimes job retraining or looking for a job takes a while. In the meantime, there are bills to be paid and food to be bought and not everyone has the kind of savings needed to support themselves during a jobless period. To help keep residents from needing San Fernando Valley bankruptcy lawyers during this period, the Utah Department of Workforce Services can assist them with getting unemployment insurance. For those who are underemployed or don't otherwise qualify, there are also food stamp, child care, and medical programs.

Information

The Department of Workforce Services also exist to help employers. If you're a business owner, you can get help with hiring or filing your taxes. You can also have a look at statistics that will tell you whether this would be a good place to open up a shrink sleeve for packaging factory.
